Upon graduating from DePaul University with a bachelor’s in finance in June of 2012, I started a career in the mortgage lending industry when I found an opportunity to be a part of a mortgage underwriter training program. After 4 years of underwriting, I was ready for a new challenge and in 2016 I moved into a new role in renovation lending. In this department I was exposed to the complete other side of the industry; as an underwriter I never had direct contact with borrower’s so I didn’t have a face to put to a file. Every file was just another file to approve. Once you have that conversation with a borrower and hear their excitement about getting into the home of their dreams, that’s where the motivation comes from and that’s when I knew I wanted to become a loan officer. I gained experience in this department working with Renovation loans (HomeStyle, 203k and VA renovation), FHA, conventional, down payment assistance programs, first time homebuyer programs, jumbo products, etc.
